Getting rid of dandruff - Help!

CakeMixture · 29/03/2012 00:45

Ds has a dandruff problem and everything I have tried to do seems to have made it worse!

Tesco anti dandruff shampoo just seems to be making it worse. I have been using it on his head a couple of times a week - no positive effect.

Am I not patient enough?
Is twice a week too often/not often enough?
Should I have spent the extra money and got a more expensive product?

Tbh a totally natural solution would please me enormously but right now I just want to stop him looking like a snow flake!!

All help and advice appreciated :)

It sounds like you need an anti-fungal shampoo. Ask a pharmacist - I'm not sure whether or not you can use something like Nizoral on children, but if not, your GP could no doubt prescribe a suitable one (you probably wouldn't even need to take your DS to the appointment).

Thanks namechanged - I'll try asking a pharmacist, which is easier than a doctor appointment (rude receptionists doesn't help!)

I have had great success with Loreal anti dandruff shampoo - dark blue bottle and orange lid. Took 2 weeks of washing every other day and I am completely clear.

T Gel is also fantastic and ime clears it very very quickly.

Thanks valium - I might give that a try.

I dont think the tescos stuff we have got contains and anti fungal ingredient - therefore its a complete waste of time and money!

The reviews here on amazon com are very interesting (and hopefully reliable)
different remedies work dependent on whether you have dandruff or a fungal condition (apparently)

Hmm I feel Im going to need to spend more money (or experience the horrors of our doctors surgery)

Coconut oil is very good massaged in and left over night - £2 in Waitrose in the baby section.
