My LO is quite poorly. She woke on Monday with conjunctivitis. Took her to GP at 10. He prescribed eye drops. By 1300 we were in a&e Dd had temp of 103! And had vomited.
We were prescribed antibiotics and told to alternate calpol and paracetamol. We were also advised to use karvol on bedding and to use saline to flush nostrils!

Having done all this dd doesn't seem to have improved.
In fact she vomits at least twice a day and has now had two bouts of diarrohea.
GP made me feel like I was a neurotic mum.
Any advice please!!
She is taking in fluids at least 10oz a day of milk and water.

Please do not alternate between calpol (brand named childrens paracetamol) and paracetamol - as both are paracetamol under different names! You can alternate between calprofen (children's ibuprofen) and paracetamol (whether that is calpol, or another brand of childrens paracetamol). Otherwise, your lo will end up with paracetamol overdose.

As I say, alternating between calprofen and calpol is fine (as each of these are metabolised differently).

If she is taking fluids so she doesn't dehydrate and having paracetamol/ibuprofen to lower her temp, it is probably a case of riding it out, unless it gets worse or carries on for much longer.

Thanks.

I meant calpol and neurofen. Blush Hospital told us to alternate them every four hours and antibiotics every 8hrs.
I feel so helpless.
When she starts wanting and looking for more sustenance what should I go for?

I'm a scientist, not a medic, so I can only go by personal experience of my 2 dc's, but when they have been ill I generally start them on fairly easy to handle/bland things when they are feeling better and take it from there - little fingers of toast, that sort of thing.
