So on Saturday morning ds appeared with lots of spots on his chest and back, each day we have had a few more spots. We suspected chicken pox due to his best friend just had it. So now were on day 4 and though there's lots of spots, they don't look blistery, he's not unwell in himself, looks more rashy now. Can't get appt with doc until tomorrow eve. Have just givan piriton to see if it makes a difference. So if the piriton makes the spots ease off, would you send him to school tomorrow?

After much tagging I have added pics of Ds's rash to my profile so you can judge for yourself. :)

Not tagging, faffing.... Darn autocorrect.

Kind of hard to see but would suspect it is CP. Piriton will only help with the itchiness not prevent the rash developing. It takes a few days for them to get white heads.

Need a close-up of a spot!

I find with chicken pox it waits till you've decided it isn't the pox, and then all the blisters pop out. So you should send him to school, cos that'll make it happen, and they can send him back ...

Ok will try a close up :)

If you think he's got CP, then don't send him to school and don't take him to the docs. In fact, don't take him out of the house!

LIZS · 28/03/2012 16:02

Did you tell the surgery you suspect cp ?

thrifty · 28/03/2012 16:13

Yes, I said I thought he had it, but now wasn't sure, the first appt they offered was Monday, i had to persuade them for a sooner one.
Have added as closeup as i can get on my phone, as you can see hopefully, there's no blisters. The spots are not as red as they look in the pictures, more pinkhebe orangy beige.

The smaller ones look as if they have heads ! Sorry but I think you have to assume he has it until a gp says otherwise.

Thanks lizs. Another day of muuuummmmmyyyyyy, I'm bored...
I guess I'll just have to wait :)

At least it's sunny!

I can see why you're not sure though - 4 days with no blistering sounds a bit unusual. The spots themselves deffo look like they could be cp though. Just be happy he's not too unwell, it can be horrific (bitter experience emoticon)!

thrifty · 29/03/2012 08:08

Well I'm pretty sure its not now, having had a good Google of skin rashes it looks very much like pityriasis rosea, the shape of the spots etc and the way it started. Anyway, will have to wait and see what the doc says this eve. It's a shame really, that I couldn't find out before cos ds has missed loads of good stuff at school this week. It'll be sods law that he does get cp too over the holidays.
