Dd has been exposed to it a lot. Most of her pre-school have had it recently. She's had a mild temp and been off colour for a couple of days. Yesterday she had one blister like spot, and this morning she has 2 more.

From previous experience with other DCs I was expecting lots of spots to develop rapidly. Might that still happen? Or is she going to be lucky and get away with 3 spots? Anyone got any experience of this?

my daughter was covered, my son had 7 spots. so she could be very lucky!

Sounds like it, dd started slow and I though it was going to be mild, three days later she was covered and had it very severely.

There isn't really anything else that causes those blisters, they are so distinctive, so i reckon it is, sorry.

Thank you both. It's tricky. If its likely to be CP I'll obviously keep her at home etc but I don't want to cancel all our plans (my older DCs are on holiday now) if it's not necessary.

Fatsatsuma was about to post exactly the same thread! DD3 (10 months) has been exposed, probably quite a few times as it is doing the rounds. She woke up yesterday from her nap with a rash and temp. Was quite grumpy and difficult to put to bed last night (v unlike her) When my other 2 had it, the spots developed quite quickly but this morning the red rash seems to have reduced and she only has 1 spot on her bottom that I would say is definitely cp. You know, the fluid filled stage. She is still cuddly and grumpy.
Like you, don't want to use up lots of favours to get other 2 to preschool/swimming/dance etc if I don't need to.
Think I'll see how she goes today and come out of quarantine tomorrow if no further development...

GinGirl that sounds like a good plan Smile

OP sounds like CP i'm afraid!!

GinGirl as far as i've been made aware, no matter how many spots a child has, the fluid filled spots means she's still contagious and will continue to be so until they've scabbed over.

fatsatsuma · 27/03/2012 19:22

She now has about 10 spots which definitely look like chicken poxy. But only 10. We are now officially in quarantine. My worry is that she will have it so mildly that she won't develop proper immunity, and will get it again when it's even less convenient Grin

GinGirl how are you doing?
