Hi I know you are not doctors and DH has gone to pick DD up from nursery but I am in London and feeling very, very far away.

DD is 19 months and has had a chesty cough for a few days. She really hasn't had much to eat since Saturday, very very miserable, tearful and clingy, sleeping loads and last night did a spectacular vom. Nursery have called that she seems to be in pain with her tummy and is quite distressed. Our doc's app isn't until 6 this evening - any ideas? A friend's boy recently had a bowel insusseption so feeling v anxious .

Thanks

Can't offer any advice but didn't want your post to go unanswered. Its so bloody hard isn't it. If dh is very worried take her to a and e, but I'm sure it won't come to that.

also did they say why they think its tummy pain? maybe she's just miserable and poorly?

Obviously we have not seen your DD but there is a tummy bug going round that myself and my dd (9) have had. We have both had horrible stomach pains which get worse when we eat, and feeling a bit sick. Neither of us have been sick.

several days later mine turned into diorrhea but not DD's.

Is it possible it is just a bug? Its really difficult when they are so little and can't explain

my Dd had an intersuseption when she was 6m old - very rare but apparently more common after another bug. She was fine once it was diagnosed and treated with some air up her bottom to untangle it ! Saying that it can be very serious so look out for classic signs of 'redcurrant jelly' in nappy and vomiting green bile. Use your mother's instinct - I was fobbed off by one GP and so didn't end up at hospital as quickly as I should have done (with hingsight...) Hope all turns out OK.

Thanks for the support, it is horrible when they are poorly and I am far away - as great as DH is, I want to be sure he gets all the right info to and from the doc. She has quite a few words and is able to say "sore" while pointing at her tummy. The most worrying bit is not really having eaten since Saturday yet still managing a huge vomit last night. Let's hope it is just a bug. I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow so am already feeling anxious about that.

Hope you got on ok at the doctors.

well doc has prescribed antibiotics for an ear infection - we've had a lot more vomiting tonight and she is still very much out of sorts. No fever and her abdomen felt fine. Urgh why am i so anxious when it's probably just some gastro-lurgy......

my doctor disagreed but i did read somewhere that ear infections can cause vomiting, and ds1 was always sick when he had one. hope she's better soon. good luck with your scan tomorrow.
