My dd alwasy dribble in her sleep and I've noticed recently that her saliva smell a bit sweet on her pillow the next morning. Have taken her to the dr and her urine test were negative of sugar and ketones.

What could be causing this smell? Do your children smell quite sweet or this is abnormal? Please help, so worried.

If I remember rightly my ds was like this while breastfed - how old is your daughter? The first thought of worry - diabetes - you have had ruled out, so doesn't sound anything to worry about. It is also a good sign she is well hydrated as a de-hydrated baby gets bad breath. hth. :)

My dd is 7. Her breath smells normal, just her dribble smells sweet. What could this be?

Does she have a secret stash of sweeties she eats in bed?

candyflossy · 17/03/2012 13:14

Lol, no secret stash of sweets hidden! Dehydration, maybe? She usually drinks only 2 - 3 glasses of water.

Are you sure it's saliva? I have encountered a sweetish smelling discharge from an ear infection. Any chance of that?

IsabelleRinging · 19/03/2012 11:16

Could it be her toothpaste?

candyflossy · 19/03/2012 11:32

Don't think it's due to an ear infection. I'm sure it's her saliva. Seeing another dr for a second opinion and also a dentist.

Dentist said my dd's teeth are fine. Took back to the doctor and said everyone has a smell to their saliva. Anyone come across this before? Don't want to keep on taking her back to the doctor. Thanks for your help.
