Eye drops for 18 month old, and breast milk?

My 18 month old DS has conjunctiveitis (sp?) and has been given eye drops. How on earth am I supposed to get them in his eyes?! If I put them on his shut eyes will wnough seep in when he blinks? There is no way I can get him to keep his eyes open! Also, I seem to remember when they are new born it's supposed to be good to put breastmilk in thier eyes if they are a bit gunky. Would that still apply now? He's still feeding, so we still have the resources!

Can't see the milk will do any harm.

Re the drops just aim for the inside corner. They tend to rub their eyes anyway which will rub it in.

As BBB said, get it in the inner conner of the eye when he is lying down, when he opens his eyes it will go in.

Give the breat milk a go as well. Why not when you have it "on tap" Grin

Thank you ladies. In case you ever try to get breast milk into a small childs eye, can I recomend expressing a little into a cup and drawing it into a syringe to then drop into/onto the eye. Aiming directly from the nipple is quite tricky!
