Dehydration in 17 month old

Hi
cuddles needed...
My DD had sickness and diarrhea Sat and Sun and yesterday I couldnt keep her awake. It really scared me and we went to the hospital . Basically they said she was dehydrated and gave her dioralyte through a nasal tube until 8pm. Then they said we could come home as she had perked up and had a wet nappy. She is a lot better today, had brekkie and kept it down, drinking bits, wet nappy and playing and chatting.
But I'm so scared something is going to go wrong and that she is more poorly than they suspect. I'm watching her like a hawk but constantly panicking.
I lost my Dad 3 months ago so I worry a lot.
Anyone been through this who could put mind my at ease?

Hospitals seem scary, but they wouldn't have sent you home if there was anything to worry about. Just keep her home today, busy and let her drink and eat little and often but lay off dairy for a few days to allow the gut to settle.

The best way to check if she is dehydrated is to a, write down the quantities of liquid, and b, weigh her nappies. That's what they would do in hospital, and you will see from
that evidence if there is a problem. I expect there isn't, she will just take a few days to get back to her normal happy self. Smile

Ok, perked up after a drink and been fairly playful since. Think she is definitely on the right path just going to worry me for a while yet!! x
