Can you put calpol in a bottle of milk?

I have never done it. But was just a thought really? My lo seems to battle with me and the syringe as soon as he notices it.

I feel like its a stupid question. But if u give calpol then immediately give him a bottle, it's all in his run together anyway. Right?

Depends, can you rely on the bottle being finished? If they only take a bit then you don't know how much calpol they've had which causes problems if you need to give more later. I always used to but got told off by Nhs direct lady as ds1 temp was sky high and she couldn't advise me to give him any more for fear of overdosing ( he was only 10 weeks)

Hmm. Didn't think about the dosing on un finished bottle. Normally drains it though. Confused

Guess you could, but if DC didnt drink ALL milk how would you know if how much calpol they got?

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 12/03/2012 13:39

Make two bottles - half in each - he's bound to completely finish one isn't he?

Frankly I just go for the tilt and syringe!

Actually, having said that, have you tried a spoon? My friends DS screams the place down if you go near him with a syringe, but will happily take it off a spoon with no messing around.

does he take a dummy? if so you can get dummies that you put the medicine in and then as they suck on the dummy they get the dose of medicine.

dont know if they are any good, i always ended up swaddling mine and propping them up and using a syringe, putting it towards the back of their mouth, at one side and not so far back that they choke! there is an art to it, after 5 kids i have it down to a 't' Grin

We never bothered with a syringe - DD opens her mouth nice and wide for a dose of Calpol but will scream the place down if we try with a syringe.

So I second trying a spoon.

I always do. I do a bottle with about 2 oz milk and the correct dosage of calpol, then give the rest of the milk in another bottle after. Has always worked for my two

My kids can spot medicine in a bottle a mile off.

Dd is 17m and used to be a nightmare with medicine but now we give her her dummy (only normally allowed at nap time) and take it out, syringe/spoon a wee bit in, replace dummy and repeat until dose is gone.

That said, i only do that with her because she vomits if forced to have anything. Ds, bless him, got held down and syringed in whether he liekd it or not.
