Hi all

Little man is 3/12 old, no nappy rash etc :) but at the junction of thigh and abdo where the skin creases are they have begun to split and look red. We have used Sudocrem and powder, but these just see to gum up the area in question. Any ideas?

Stop using powder, and try a simple emollient such as E45. Also show the GP or HV as he may have a fungal infection, or eczema.

Sudocrem will also dry it out. I think a doctor would prescribe E45 or aqueous cream to start with. You might want to try some nappy free time too.

Lansinoh worked for us Smile

Yep nappy free time is already on the agenda...I have not used E45 bec on the container it says keep out of reach of children (!)

So far the sudocrem just gets gummed up in the crease :(

How about something oily like baby bottom butter? Hmm

Glad to know I am not the only one here on Sat night LOL

Yes that means don't leave it around for them to play with!

It is quite safe to use E45 on babies and children. Smile

Splitting skin can be caused by infection, fungal infection and eczema so may need something more than just an emollient. I would use E45 for now until you can get him seen though.

Don't use talcum powder, as well as offering no benefit to skin it can be inhaled which isn't really safe.

if it's a fungus you'll want Daktarin or something but try the nelson's first, it's fantastic Smile
