I'm up with dd2 who has a hight temp of 40, she doesn't seem too bad (is watching tv and keeps nodding off), she's had a bad cough for a few days and theres a nasty fluey bug doing the rounds (half her class off with it). I'm worried she may have a chest infection and will need anti-biotics. Dd2 is almost 6 and has Autism, i have always struggled to get meds into her, if i syringe it into her she is sick, if i put it into her drink she goes on fluid strike when lands us in a*e with dhydration. So far this year (touch wood) she has not had to have any antibiotics and when she has been unwell she has managed ok without calpol. My gp is not very understanding when i tell him 'i can't get meds into her' and they expect me to pin her down and syringe it into her, i can no longer do this on my own (its a 3 man job) and it often resaults in her being sick or spitting it in my face. Is there anything else i should try? or is it possible to give it to her another way?

Can you get them in soluble tablets that you could put in a drink?

Have tried them Sad, the trouble is if she tastes anything in her drink she will stop drinking altogether so i can't risk trying (its more important that she's drinking). Guess we will just have to ride it out and hope its not an infection.

My son is six, autistic and won't take any meds, our GP has prescribed paracetamol suppositories for him and he's fine with that though I appreciate that maybe not every child would be
