Persistent cough in 7mo

My poor little one has had a cough for around a month now. It started as a full on cold and is now just a tickly cough. I assume this means it's getting better but does anyone have any suggestions of things I can do to help speed things along? It's waking her up at night, as often as every hour and she always needs cuddling and feeding back to sleep. We're one grumpy family at the moment because none of us are sleeping enough!

hi there :) i completely understand. our household has been going through the same thing with our 9 month old.

my baby was vomiting 2 to 3 times a night due to the excessive coughing. i/we had forgotten what sleep means!!

i find that leaving the window slightly open makes a big difference
9 i think in terms of moisture) and also putting a wet towel on the radiator. my baby is exclusively breastfed so added to that i have stopped giving her any yoghurts as dairy tends to make her mucus worse.

also the usual propping her head up but i have found that using one of my pillows is much better only while the cough is going on.

good luck hopes she gets better :)

Mine has it too but only started on Friday (hope it doesn't last a month Sad)

We've had lots of sick too whilst she "tries" to get the shit off her chest. If only we could teach them to spit the phelm out and not bring all of their milk up Grin

We've had bath time tonight but I've left the shower running (separate to bath) on a really hot setting creating lots of steam. We've stayed in the bathroom for a good 20min tonight and she's tons better than last night.

Dp has also put a pillow under her cot mattress so she's sleeping at an angle (co slept holding her upright last night to help her) and this seems to be working however my trusty sensor monitor won't work now and I can't sleep worrying about it not being on!!Wink

Obas oil on a muslin in cot too.

Hope baby is better soon.

Thanks very much, I just feel so horrid when she's hacking away :(

I will definitely try the wet towel (need to do some washing anyway :o) and olbas oil on the muslin.

GodisaDj I hope it doesn't lat a month too!
