Blisters on tongue

A few weeks ago I posted on here about my ds 9months old who was on 3rd consecutive lot of antibiotics for tonsillitis. Well he managed a whole week at nursery this wk ( well th 3 days he attends for ) but today I noticed two blisters on the front of his tongue. He's a bit cranky but has no temp or rashers a bit of a runny nose and a cough. I have made the mistake of googling the blisters ! I don't think it's hand, foot and mouth as he has no other symptoms, but I'm stressing the tonsilis is back again :( or could it be teeth rubbing on his tonge ? He has two bottom and has had two top for about 6 weeks, has anyone else every had this ?

I'd lay money on it being hand foot and mouth tbh even with no other defining features.

My dd had h,f&m with only her mouth affected. There is a proper term for it, but I forget ...

:( more time of nursery then. What is the treatment if any and how long does it last ( I know that's probably a how long is a piece of string question ! ) thanks :)

The GP gave us some slimy ointment for the blisters that she really wouldn't tolerate (it was awful, I tried it). About a week, I'm sorry to say. I hope you get off more lightly!

It seems a bit premature to leap to the conclusion that these blisters are HFM especially in the absence of other significant symptoms.

There are alternatives such as primary herpes simplex infection, thrush (common after antibiotics). He could just by run down after his illnesses and got a couple of simple mouth ulcers.

You really need to see your gp as the above alternative conditions dont need exclusion from nursery.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We went to the doctors first thing this morning and she said she thought it was hand, foot and mouth virus and his tonsils are red and swollen but not inflamed . So the verdict was to carry on with the calpol and expect to see an improvement by thur. The nursery doesn't exclude for it but does report it to parents, but he spent most of today sleeping and home and will keep him off again tomorrow as he's more comfortable at home. Hopefully this will be the end on 'welcome to nursery' illnesses !!

I agree it sounds like H,F&M...it was what I first thought on reading the thread title. My DD had H,F&M when she was 2yo and only had the hand blisters so it doesn't have to be all or nothing IYSWIM
