He had had bloods done, and clear. His water is ok. We are back to the docs next week when she thought she may try him on colic meds. Does anyone please have any ideas what it could be. No diahorrea and not been sick. feels bit sick sometimes. Sometimes a stabbing pain, some times an ache. Seems to be there all the time. He is eating ok, and I am making him drink. I thought celiac orbs, but the tests were clear. Any ideas please ladies? Thanks

is he worrying about anything?

FunnysInTheGarden · 02/03/2012 22:42

DS1 has had this. He has been ill for about 6 weeks and was eating OK but not great. Went to the docs who thought it might be glandular fever, but it wasn't. He is 6 and complained of a tummy ache/head ache for weeks. He was finally sick about a week ago and suddenly perked up. Now he is much better and eating for England and looks like himself again and has loads more energy. I am so relieved. Hope your DS is OK and gets better soon.

google 'mesenteric adenitis' and also 'abdominal migraine'
nhs choices is a good place to start your search
hope he feels better soon - it sounds rotten.

Thanks both, I have quizzed him about worrying, and there is nothing specific. I am just really concerned how long it's being going on. He is still eating ok. I have googled and read about it could be a random child long lasting tummy she, but seems odd it suddenly started without warning. He has been to scouts this week and came out crying in pain saying it hurt to breathe too. Doc felt his Tum and said feels soft and Normal....

The abdominal migraine was interesting as I suffer migraines! But it's only three days usually. Mine last three days too!

I had 11+ tummy ache which is the reason I asked

lasted for weeks, I was adamant the pain was real (because it was) and that I wasn't worrying about anything as GP suggested

however 11+ results come out and tummy ache goes

Has anyone examined his genitals and his hips?...I only ask because groin hernias and scrotal/testicular problems and also unusual hip pathology can present with tummy pain at this age, though both are unlikely it's worth considering them in a full 'workup' as they say on House

He had exams at the time, coming up, and I linked them, and he had time off school, whichever though he denied worrying I thought could be. But since them he has had half term, and great results, so I have ruled it out. I did wonder if they should check down below.?...

The pain is central by belly button, and radiates out and up...

A quick but thorough check 'down there' is essential, I would say.

But to reassure you, the further away from the belly button the pain is, the more likely there is to be a 'proper' thing wrong....which is not to diminish his actual symptoms at all, poor lad, but central pain is usually less worrysome to medical staff than one in a particular corner of the tummy.
