I gave him (4.4) Calpol, and he threw up about 2 mins later. Is it safe to re-administer? Also, is this something I should be worried about? How long before I make a Dr's appointment?

My DD (same age) has had a very similar thing this past week and everyone we've spoken to has said it's just a nasty virus. As long as they are rousable when they sleep, and will talk to you (even just to say yes/no), then they are probably more comfortable resting at home providing they keep drinking (and peeing).

Re: calpol, I wouldn't, but I don't know.

Thanks ohdear - it's just that his temp is very high (39C) so I want to bring it down for him. Maybe I should give him CAlprofen instead?

I would give brufen instead.

Sounds very much like the bug Ds had Tuesday and Wednesday.

I think Calprofen should be fine if he's able to keep it down, poor thing. Our doc recommended ice lollies too.

my ds(5) has been off school today as he had sickness and diarrhoea in the night. He is currently asleep on the couch which is very very unlike him. He had some childrens nurofen earlier as he was also running a temperature. I have had a very unproductive day sitting on the couch with him watching childrens tv!

DD2 had this over the weekend. She couldn't keep anything down so i gave her one of those 'bump' ice packs to put on the back of her neck to make her more comfortable. You can get 'kool and soothe' single use things that are sticky too, they're great. Thankfully the vomiting doesn't last long so medication will soon start to stay down.

Hope he feels better soon.
