When to really try to get DD to eat after flu?

Hello,

We're on day 6 of a really rotten flu (v.high temps, some vomiting, but mostly coughing and other cold-type symptoms). DD is brightening a little, and has carried on drinking throughout, but is still not eating. She's not had anything more substantial than boiled sweets, ice-lollies and the odd piece of orange, since Friday. She looks like she's lost weight though I don't know for sure. Whenever I mention food she cries and says no - I don't know if she thinks it'll make her sick.

Her fever is down today (but still over 38), though she's still falling asleep every few hours for a good few hours and the cough still sounds dreadful. Should I push the food thing, or let her carry on with fluids and so on for another day?

(She's 4 and otherwise perfectly healthy)

Many thanks!!

I think it's fine as long as she continues to have fluids. I'm sure she'll eat when she's ready.

Hi my dd had tonsilitas half term week and didn't eat for a week but drunk plenty. She only likes milk tea or water so I gave her glucose powder in them to give her energy hasn't got much taste to it. I tried complan but she didn't like it perhaps your dd might. Hope she's better soon Smile

She's woken up and had a reasonable stab at some plain pasta so hopefully that means she is on the mend. Those ideas are grand if she goes off it again though, thank you!
