Hi, my 9 month old was admitted to hospital a few days ago. They've put him in a positive pressure cubicle, anyone know what that is?

It's horrible seeing him unwell :-(

have you asked the nurses or doctors why this is the case?

They told me he's in isolation. But just wondered what a positive pressure room is.

It basically means that air can get out of the room but not get in, usually to keep the room very sterile.

Hope your lo is better soon.

I hope he's better soon. What's the matter if you don't mind me asking?

Also, please just ask the docs / nurses if you have any questions, don't feel intimidated or anything. Ask them to explain anything you don't understand, he is your kid and you have a right to know.

Yes, positive pressure means there's a constant supply of clean air coming into the room through a filter, at a higher than normal pressure so that every time the door is opened the air will blow outwards to minimise the chances of anything infectious anyone else in the corridor has from getting into your DS's room. My DD was in one many times for a low white cell count. Anything that drops their immunity would warrant it. Hope your DS is better soon.
