My GP was quite scathing about the fact it was now labelled 16 plus, but didn't hint that It would be ok.

I've had a Google and what I understand is that there is only a theoretical risk of Reye's syndrome, and that the risk refers to long term use, not a few days for a one off illness.

She is sooooo miserable as it's a pretty nasty dose and her mouth is really sore :( I just want to be able to go something to make her more comfortable.

Silly question - have you already maxed out the calpol, calprofen and piriton?

So that's a yes if it's a bad dose! Ok, then the answer is yes assuming she's screaming in pain rather than mithering a bit.

I feel for you, dd1 was poorly, but dd2 was horribly horribly painfully screamingly ill. No sleep longer than 20 mins in 2 nights, and screaming in pain. Made me cry as there was nothing more I could do, and I'm normally of a sturdy disposition Sad. Hang in there, it will be over soon.

Yup, she's maxed out on all the above. She's not screaming in pain, but has gone very very quiet, which is why I know it's serious. She won't even talk as it hurts too much.

I thought she had got off lightly, but she even has them inside her labia and all down her legs :( and they only started appearing this morning. I dread to think what tomorrow will bring!

Oh poor little thing. Dd2 had them in every orifice too, even inside her eyes. It was miserable.

Lots of bicarbonate soda baths, and keep her lightly dressed, even naked if you can get the house warm enough, to help it all dry out. Drugs on a schedule. Probably ice lollies/ice cream/jelly if her mouth is bad.

And wine for you for when it's over. Good luck.

Thanks :)

I typed a reply last night but the gremlins that were gadding about the boards last night must have eaten it!

She had a good night thankfully, but is even more plastered this morning :( I've counted 30 at the back of one knee alone.
DH has been dispatched to the chemist for some Virasoothe gel, which is the Roll's Royce of CP treatments I understand!

And the bonjela question is now redundant as she is refusing to open her mouth and is communicating with nods and shakes of her head. I am enjoying the silence, lol :)
