Twin 15m old's with tummy bug - what now!

Hi all,

Help and advice for Dad of twin 15m olds - on his own today

My boys were vomiting most of yesterday afternoon, evening, and night. They ran out of steam about 9pm and just kept waking up crying and trying to be sick - nothing coming out.

They slept until gone 9am this morning, at about 10 I gave them some water, which they gulped down, and 4oz of milk which they finished and wanted more of - DTS1 was sick - about half of the 2oz, but seemed fine after. I changed nappies, and put them back to bed. After a few minutes they went back to sleep.

Now what? Should I keep trying small amounts of milk and water and let them rest as much as possible? I am scared to get them up at the moment...

Mark

Let them sleep.

When they wake, give small amounts of water regularly (literally a teaspoon-full every 5-10 mins). Avoid milk for now, it wont do any harm.

I hope they feel better soon!

Hi CCN,

thanks for that. They had just woken up so I had just gave them a 'lunchtime' 4oz of milk each and some water. DTS1 was sick a again, maybe half the 4oz, a few minutes after finishing the feed. DTS2 was fine again.

So you reckon to drop the milk for a while? They are both guzzling the water and the milk and crying for more...

Thanks,

Mark

Are they used to drinking ribena or apple juice or any fizzy drinks?
Since it's an extreme circumstance, if it were my children I'd be offering an alternative to milk just to see if they keep it down better.

Although If they only want milk it's also fine, I think even if they don't keep it down something will get absorbed and better than nothing (that's what I was advised with sick 1 year old once).

btw I'm just a mum of two not anyone with particular medical knowledge!
