Incontinence day-time in 8yr old treated by cranial osteopath

Our son has always struggled with frequent daytime and night time wetting until a few months ago. His GP and referral consultant prescribed Oxybutinin to control his "bladder spasm". this led to him becoming constipated, and he was therefore prescribed Movicol. The drugs did work, but we stopped using them due to the side effects caused (stomach pains, anal fissures and nausea).

We consulted our Osteopath as a last resort, and she immediately identified a problem with a twisted pelvis and slightly displaced hip, which put pressure on the bladder/nerve, causing a spasm. This could have been caused by an impact injury sometime as a pre schooler (possibly jumping from a high climbing frame?). It has taken 6 months for the osteopath to treat completely, but he is now totally dry! Our son is very sporty and knocked the hip out recently, leading to a total relapse, but the osteopath has been able to correct this in one 1/2 hour session.

We feel frustrated that our GP is sceptical about Osteopathy, as it has been a tremendous help to us now and in the past for our other children, and has transformed our son's life. I really hope this experience may prove useful to somebody else in a similar situation.

That's good to hear. My DH goes to a cranial osteopath and comes back a different person which lasts about an hour, sadly which is incredible seeing as the guy hardly touches him - certainly no pushing & pulling.
