Chicken pox - dd only has pox on her face.... anyone else had that?

Well she had one other pox on her back but that's it.
And how long should it last?
She seems to have had it fairly mildly but it's so strange that's it's just on her face. dh keeps saying it can't be cpox because it's not on her body and the gp said it was only 99% definitely cpox.
I want her to go back to playschool so I'd love to hear if anyone else had had them just on the face.

How long has she had it - CP often starts on the trunk and then gradually spreads over the rest of the body bit by bit. Can take 5-6 days. If she only has it mildly she might only have 1 or 2 spots in each area.

My friends just had this, the 2.5yr old had them all over, and the 18 mo only one pox on face and one on bottom.

The doctor confirmed CP, and when they went back to nursery the nursery teacher said that the younger child "must just be a carrier". None of us are very clear by what she meant by that!!

But she only ever got those 2 pox, and its been weeks now. In fact we are going for lunch in a bit so I hope shes clear Grin

She had her first spot on her face on Monday last (a week and a half ago) and has been getting them really slowly ever since, one or two come up a day as another couple crust over and go away. She had one pox on her body which is now just a light red mark.
The whole time she's had a runny nose, a bit of a sore mouth (which goes with cpox I understand) She also had the abdominal pain associated with cpox before the pox appeared.
She's been warm but never had a really high temperature with it.
The gp said 2 weeks from first pox she's no longer contagious. But it just doesn't seem to be acting quite like cpox.

When my DSes were little and had CP, Ds1 had about 20 spots in total, mostly on his chest. Poor DS2 had hundreds (well maybe nto hundreds, but you get the idea) and they were verywhere, in his mouth, ears, nose etc

From what you say it sounds as though it is acting just like CP - just without too many spots!!
Be warned though, as she is still quite young and appears to have only had it quite mildly, it is possible for her to have it again.

Thanks for all posts, it seems like it must be the pox. I'm just desperate to take her to playschool and want to be confident that she's not contagious.

But is it common to have it again? A friend of mine is a practice nurse and she said she thought it wasn't that common to have it again.

I think its relatively common if the first dose was a mild one.

it doesnt sound like chicken pox if she has had new spots appearing over the last week and a half. They normally appear and crust over within 5-7 days from when the chicken pox first start coming out and at that point are ok to go back to nursery/school, etc (when they are crusted over).
