Hoping for reassurance, weight loss in 12 month old

Hi there,

I really think I know that this is no cause for panic, but because of weight gain issues early on with DD, this issue does stress me a bit, and there's nothing makes me happier than the little line going up...

So DD is 12mo, and my Mum just took her to baby clinic for weighing as I hadn't had her weighed since November.

And she's lost a few grams. Not a lot, just a bit, and the HV said don't worry because they're usually very active at this age, and she is. She's not walking independently but spends the whole day on her feet with her walk-along car thing and when she's not doing that she's crawling and clambering, and yes...she really is very mobile.

She eats pretty well most of the time, but I suppose I am a bit concerned as she is going off her milk a bit, she probably has 500ml in a day now.

So, I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance - has this happened to other people, did it just right itself? Just feeling a bit :-( as I think because of the earlier weight issues, weight loss feels 'wrong' and gain feels 'right' in my head, which I know won't always be the case.

D

at that age both mine's weight stagnated for about a year (going from chubby(ish) baby to skinny toddler. also can have an effect on weight.
try not to worry, she eats well, is alert (I suppose), developing/growing appropiately...

Hi my DS hasn't really put any weight on since he got to 12 months. He is 15 mo now. He eats loads when he isn't ill but has had a few D&V episodes over the past few months.
During one of these we were in hospital and one of the consultants commented that he looked a "very solid little boy" when I said about his weight, the consultant just said that as long as he looked healthy, not to worry what the scales said.
As long as they are eating (other diary if not milk) and have lots of energy then I am not worrying too much.

Its very normal for their weight to drop slightly they are so much more active now than they ever were so they are burning it of as one post said they go from chubby baby to skinny toddler overnight!!!! as for the milk 2 of my ds went of milk around 12 months once id finished feeding them they had no interest in milk and bottles each child is different my ds1 was a real milk drinker bf for 18 months and loved his bottle for a good while after that . Dont worry once their eating active and looking healthy they are fine !!!
