My 11 month old ds has dry rough skin on his legs, feet and arms and cheeks. Its getting worse, tried baby oil, and various lotions, and chucked out some nasty cheap Thomas the Tankengine bubble bath. But I need more ideas to try so please pass on yours if you've found anything to help. Some people say olive oil but that seems very 'heavy' iykwim.

Aqueous cream is good and quite gentle. My ds's have sensitive skin/ eczema patches and we use Oilatum in the bath and epaderm cream on them afterwards.. You can get all these creams on prescription. Oilatum is quite expensive to buy. Aqueous is not to expensive though and you can get it at any chemistsSmile

Porridge oats in the bath - put them in a sock or cut off foot of a pair of tights.

Aqueous cream did jack for us, and oil is not good. Yes agreed you can get lots on prescription so just try until you find something that works. Fwiw not all eczema creams are super moisturising. Some are just soothing or non irritating. Aveeno is fab but DC2 reacts to it so we swear by Lush Dream Cream.

Oilatum junior in the bath works really well.

Another aveeno fan here. I use it my severe ezcema and any dry skin my children get.

I don't recommend oilatum it stings if u have sensitive skin.
Don't assume hypo allergenic or sensitive creams are good. Many still contain preservatives which can irritate despite what they say. Aveeno doesn't.

We've got cetraben bath additive and cream for all over and then just been prescribed Aveeno for a dry patch on my DS's face that won't heal, seems to be getting better with the Aveeno. All my son's dry patches are now soft and smooth except this one bit on his cheek.

Pure unrefined virgin Shea butter. Brilliant stuff and no nasty anything in it. I get it online at Akamuti who do other brilliant pure organic stuff for babies skin and grown ups. I tried all the usual stuff with my two, but Shea butter in this form is the best in my opinion.

Lush dreamcream

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 20/02/2012 22:12

Aveeno or Lush Dream Cream here too.

Doublebase prescribable by GP or HV. Can be bought over the counter and pharmacist always tells me to get a prescription for it. May try to give you Diprobase but Doublebase much better - more of a gel base and easier to apply.
