Hi, am concerned that dd is not eating enough food to sustain her throughout the school day. They often do not get time to eat lunch due to various activities which is also a concern. Can anyone recommend a good site that outlines the calorific requirements for her age group please. It is always a bit of a fight to get her to eat much in the mornings. TIA

I don't know exactly, but I think it's about 1800 depending on how much exercise she does?

DD is 12 and does quite a bit of exercise in addition to school. She usually has cereal (about 2 weetabix) or 2 slices toast for breakfast, a round and a half of sandwiches, 2 fruit and a squeezy yog for lunch, a fruit and biscuit snack after school and then a plate of dinner and a small pud. She is average height, weight and BMI and she sometimes has additional treats like chocolate bars / fizzy drinks.

Thanks TillyMint, that is very helpful. Sounds similar breakfast to what dd has, but I think I need to cram a bit more into her, due to lunch activities. I generally give her a cheese and salad wrap, fruit, yoghurt and chocolate bar for lunch, but this often is left uneaten. She does eat a very good tea as by the time she gets home she will be gnawing her books Grin

Estimated calories needed by children range from 900/day for a 1-year-old to 1,800 for a 14?18-year-old girl and 2,200 for a 14?18-year-old boy.
