For the past 3 nights now, my ds2.5 has woken up screaming and thrashing. It so awful, it is like he is possessed and nothing I say or do helps him. It goes on for about 3 minutes, then suddenly it stops and he is back to normal, turns over and goes back to sleep. I am left freaked out and far from sleeping.

I am sure it is just night terrors, but aren't they fg strange !!!!!

My eldest had night terrors and it was awful . They lasted for about 12 months whilst he was 3 , there was no telling when he would have one and sometimes 3 nights in a row then non for a month! The really wierd thing is they don't remember anything at all( thank goodness) needless to say he grew out of them and he's now 13 and it would take an explosion to wake him in the night ! Easy to say but they will pass !

Yes, DS age 3 gets these as well. The first time it happened it was terrifying, he had his eyes open but it was as if he couldn't see me and he was just screaming and screaming. As Kate4000 has said, they don't remember them at all the next morning. It's awful seeing them so distressed though.

DH and DD both talk in their sleep and am am prone to nightmares and have woken DH a few times screaming in my sleep Blush so night times are rarely peaceful in our household!

If it happens regularly at about the same time of night then try gently making him stir about an hour before it would happen. It may be enough to disturb his sleep pattern and prevent it happening.

Yes, my DS (also three) had them a few times before Christmas. I was terrified, he was fine.
