Poor dd has recently developed very dry and itchy and now sore skin on her forehead. Any other DCs with something similar ? Can you recommend any treatments ?

Think I'll have to take her to chemists to see what they suggest.
She's had excema occasionally before, especially on inside elbow area.
We used a hydocortisone cream then which worked wonders, and cleared up problem, but can't use it on face according to label.

I have just started to put DH's diprobase on the back of DS2's knees which have followed the same pattern - they look better tonight than yesterday if that helps. DH suffers from these patches quite a lot but never on his face as far as I know.
Chemist seems like a good idea, our local smaller pharmacy is better than the bigger Boots IMO.

Thanks pepper - so nice to get a reply.

Could it be impetigo? Excema sufferers are more prone to this.

Thanks, but it seems to be related to her having very dry skin ATM on her forehead. Possibly some hormonal changes going on (she's 12) but you'd think her skin would be getting oilier wouldn't you ?

Has she been wearing a hat? Perhaps there's something in the hat material she's reacting to and her forehead is the only place the hat touches skin.
Perhaps try washing her hat in your usual washing powder, as new hats can have formaldehyde and all sorts in, which can irritate sensitive skin.

Maybe it's a chapped from the cold snap we've been having?

JugglingWithSnowballs · 05/02/2012 08:31

thanks - two good ideas there Smile

I occasionally get eczema on my face and found Aveeno very good - you can get it on prescription or over the counter. If it's really bad you can be prescribed a mild hydrocortisone.

Thanks moon - I'd take her to the chemist now if it wasn't Sunday and very snowy ! Perhaps try tomorrow ? Smile

Has she been out while it was snowing? Wet fur on hoods is brilliant at chaffing.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 05/02/2012 11:20

No, she's snuggled up on the sofa - sensible girl (has a nasty cold)

  • It's ds who's out in the road (very quiet one) building a snowman with the other kids Smile

How did you get on at the chemists juggling?

JugglingWithSnowballs · 06/02/2012 20:58

Ah, thanks for asking, and reminding me pepper, we didn't go today - Monday's are a bit busy with dancing and band practice. Perhaps tomorrow will be a good day to go with her and try and get it sorted for her. Must be very uncomfortable - she says it's very itchy sometimes - but I don't think it's on her mind/ bothering her all the time.
