Anyone's DC got their back molars at 18 months?

DD has sixteen teeth and is showing teething symptoms again, but according to the internet 23 months is the earliest age for back molars to erupt. Are we in for months of teething symptoms while they come through? Or perhaps it is not teething? Or does anyone have experience of back molars coming through circa 18 months?

My children had their back molars in way before 23 months, in fact iirc they were all in by a year!

My DD got hers early. Cannot remember exact age but it was about 15-16 months. Her first two teeth were in at 3 months and by 18 months she had them all.

You know your children best. If it looks like teething pain and sounds like teething pain... :)

my dd is 14mths and just getting some of her back molars! they are all different, all of my 5 have got their teeth at different ages. if she is showing teething symptoms i would treat her as if she is teething, someteims they move around a lot under the gum for a while before they cut through, its not nice for them so treat with teething powder, bonjela, calpol etc whatever usually helps her :)

actually she isnt quite 14mths, nearly tho! 3 more days, anyway the first bits have cut through ifykwim? but not the whole tooth yet.

Ah thanks. I didn't want to give calpol if not teething - I prefer only to give it when I know it is necessary. Because the symptoms appear mainly at night I was wondering if I was confusing teething with the 18 month sleep regression but she does seem to wake chewing her hands...

The pre-molars were a good month of pain including 2-3 weeks of very loose nappies before they popped through so i am now bracing myself!

Yes, one of mine had all their teeth by 18 months. The dentist was neither surprised not concerned.

Sorry, that should say the dentist was neither surprised nor concerned.

DD2 had hers for ages by 23 months. I am almost sure she already had them all by 18 months as well. They almost came unnoticed though.

LaTristesse · 02/02/2012 13:07

DS had all his by 20mo, not actually sure when the last back molars arrived as I just noticed them one day - I was preparing for weeks of angst when they cut through but they couldn't have troubled him at all as they were just there all of a sudden!

Wish DD's would just 'appear' - every tooth is painful here - thank goodness we are on the home stretch!
