She said it was as though there were drops of water in her eyes. I'm wondering if this could be induced by too much computer gaming. She said I knew you'd say that. But of course it could be something more serious.

Could be a painless migraine - both me and my mum had them at one point (her as her migraines went, mine when I started to get them) and it was exactly like having water in your eye.

She needs a trip to the optician and GP for a check though. But not likely to be related to the computer

When dd had this it turned out to be Lyme disease. Might be worth considering, there's not always a rash.

Thanks Dibbler, I'll try GP - she says she hadn't eaten anything all morning - out before breakfast and didn't get a snack at school because the queues were too long (as usual). She did say she had a headache afterwards - but she has rarely had a headache before. Having said that her grandma has a history of migraine, the kind that when they come they knock you out, but are rare.

post - Lyme disease - help!!!

I don't think it's the most likely thing at all, and it's not how Lyme typically presents, but it was dd's only initial symptom other than the rash, we'd taken her to the optician and got her glasses before we finally got a diagnosis, but after antibiotics she's completely back to normal, including her sight.

I don't know how old your DD is or whether this might be relevant at all, but when my DD was 7, we had a health scare as she got a droopy eyelid and ended up having an MRI scan (all clear) and eyes checked by optician (given reading glasses). The eyelid resolved within a week, but we eventually saw an opthamologist because she began to complain of dizziness and double vision - describing how she could see two of everything eg on the whiteboard at school. The opthamologist said there was no doubt that the eyelid had been conjunctivitis and that she didn't need glasses (!). Regarding the double vision and failed eyesight test at the opticians, he said that young girls are incredibly suggestible and he had seen many complaining of double or blurred vision etc, who had nothing wrong. We stopped fussing over her and she stopped complaining about it. She is now 11 and fine. I'm not suggesting that there is nothing wrong with your DD - you must obviously get her checked out - but I just throw it out there as something to consider if there are any stresses in her life etc.
