Verucca's - I have duct tape and banana's...

So - the duct tape doesn't seem to stick to ds's feet. Should I wrap it under and round as if I was bandaging his ankle up?

He has a large painful verucca which I don't really want to attack with chemicals as it's pretty sore already for him.

well, u could use plaster w/o dressing part? not sure if wrapping will stay on long enough, it needs to stay there for days if you can.

just a thought, can you use plasters to stick the tape on around the edges, at least 2, so it stays on

blabalalalablabla · 27/01/2012 22:03

yes - it's the thick stuff - it seems less sticky than I remember.

have tried with regular plasters and they seem to come off - I think it's because its right on the heel and the skin is so soft.

birds - good to hear it did the job of for your son. Did you go down the banana route too or just stick with the tape?

Will see if I can do a repair job with plasters...

I had great success with Wartner - I got it in Boots. Its a freezing system, so no chemicals per se. Its a little canister with disposable little sponges, you press the sponges into the cannister and then press it to the verucca. It 'freezes' them and they die and fall off within a few weeks.

DS2 was plagued with really sore ones on his big toe and the ball of his foot. I tried the 'acidic' treatments, but they were totally useless. This took 2 treatments. When I saw the roots of the verucca had turned black I knew it was dead.

Ploink · 27/01/2012 22:27

Wartner didn't even touch mine. Infact nothing has, I've had them for 14 years! Been having treatment (freezing) for them on the NHS for the last 2 but they're still going strong even though it's excrutiating!

I was told to put Compeed Corn Plasters on. They are very, very sticky! Helped a bit but not enough.

banana is on and have managed to make the tape stick by tearing it into thinner strips.

will see how we get on so watch this space!

Presume its just the skin of banana you use?

blabalalalablabla · 29/01/2012 10:37

yes - inside face down on the offending verucca.

I didn't know about banana and duct tape for verrucas. How do they work? Should you use both and how and for how long/how often? Thanks.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/01/2012 22:23

Get micropore tape from the chemists to stick the duct tape on with.

differentnametoposthere · 29/01/2012 22:33

What duct tape? The black electrical stuff? Or the wider silver stuff?

blabalalalablabla · 31/01/2012 20:27

I'm using the wide black stuff.

It seems to be making some kind of difference. It looks as if there is more of a hole and you can see the black seedy/root bits better. I really want to get in there with a needle but have my sensible hat on and am leaving nature to take its course.

Will it come to the surface and eventually fall off? DH doesn't believe it will work but ds is convinced it will!
