3wo dry skin and red bumps, normal?

DD is 3 weeks old and has dry flaky skin with red bumps mainly on her eyelids, forehead and a bit on her cheeks/nose. Its also on her upper chest area as well, is this normal or does it need to be treated?

It doesn't seem to be causing her any irritation (how would i tell if it was?) and I'm hoping it'll just go away on it's own as i dont really want to be putting creams and things on her skin this early on. Any tips/advice much appreciated :)

My twins are 5 weeks and have the same the health visitor gave me a perception for very mild cream to help :)

I think this normal and they call it "milk spots" I was advised that it would clear in its own time. The dry skin sounds normal as well but your HIV may suggest something like aqueous cream that really does help, especially if it starts peeling.

The Midwife advised us to put e45 cream on my DS's skin when he was that age.

DD2 is 2.5 weeks and has the same. I've been advised plain water baths and a rub down with olive oil for the flaky skin. The spots will disappear by themselves.

Thanks for the advice folks, the rash got rather worse over the weekend and started spreading further down her body, so i took her to GP on Monday and he prescribed a cream, its Canesten with hydrocortisone (1%) so very mild and it's worked very quickly. The GP said it could be a fungal rash but he wasn't sure, either way i'm just hoping it doesn't come back once we stop using the cream....
