Recurrent croup in 2yo son. What can I do?

Okay so about 4-6 weeks ago my ds had his first experience of croup. They told me NOT to steam him but to sponge him down with lukewarm, damp sponges and give him calpol for the fever. They gave me dissolvable steroids (which were almost impossible to get in him as he kept throwing everything up). He won't take a ventilator. He has it again.

Should I be worried about this? Is it normal to get it this quickly afterwards?

DS still gets it every time he gets sick, and he's 8. Some children's bodies just turn everything they get into croup. We found that cold outside air helps more than steam.

When Ds had it we Found taking him outside into the cold air helps, although he still ends up in hospital when it happens anyway.

Yes it can be, my son had it when he was just 1 he was terribly poorly with it : (
It reoccured 3 or 4 weeks later ( he also got it again the following year) I have no research or evidence on this ( appart from the fact it worked on him) but my mum who was with me for the first instance told me to but his head in the freezer! Obviously it didn't cure him but it made his breathing easier.
We would just open the freezer door and stand with him breathing in the cold air for a minute or so and repeat as necessary.
The first time he ended up in hospital with nebulizers and o2.
Hope your little man is better soon.

I actually found that turmeric in a spoonful of agave nectar or honey would help take the edge off some, due to anti-inflammatory actions. It really isn't easy to get them to take, but once DS realized it helped him, he dutifully would lick the spoon clean. It isn't a miracle worker, but once we discovered about 5 years ago, we stopped having to go to the hospital every time.
