Support for child with stomach cancer and help for her family - any tips?

A little girl ( age 6) in my dd's class last year has just been found to have a tumour in her stomach. At this stage the family are waiting to have a biopsy and find out more about the treatment plan etc.

It seems unbelievable and unfair, but naturally you start to think about what kind of support you can offer the family. What would you recommend?

My first thoughts were about ensuring little one still gets to see her friends but what about the rest of the family? I have spoken to the mum about having coffee and some time out but i also recognise she probably feels like there's no time for that. What little things could make a difference to her?

Maybe talk to the teacher and see what the class are planning to do for the little girl, am thinking if she is going to be off in hospital for a while the other children could make her cards etc, maybe through the school do some sort of collection to buy the little girl some presents or even do a charity event to raise money for childhood cancer support.

Thats all off the top of my head!!!

Poor poor little girl - every parents worse nightmare Sad

Talking to the teacher is a good plan. Poor little girl's twin brother i my my dd's class and the school are dealing with it really well. I don't think the children get it but the friends i've spoken to are all just a bit dumbstruck.

do they know for sure that the tumour is cancerous? :(

not yet - the biopsy is this week - hopefully it's just a malignant lump, but still it will mean surgery for her and a stressful time for the family.
