How worried should I be? She's pale and subdued. No diarrhea so cant be gastroenteritis?

She's just started BLW so have been giving her some roasted veg batons, and yesterday took some out and about with me so they werent in the fridge for about 2-3 hours - she can't have got food poisoning from this could she?

Wouldn't think so. Could still be gastric as it might take longer to develop at the other end. Most important thing is to keep her hydrated. Will she drink boiled water with baby rehydration powders in like Dioralyte? or even just boiled water with a bit of sugar? If she'll chew on a cracker that should give her necessary salt. Poor lamb.

Have you changed the milk she's on? E.g. from breast to formula or cow's, as it might be an intolerance of some sort.

Thanks for answering - she's my pfb so I worry!

Still no diarrhea, and still being "to her guts" sick :(

Breastfed so no change there....

Don't want to scare you but if she really isn't holding any fluids down at all, that's worth a trip to A & E. Baby dehydration is taken very seriously there.

I'd go now. Hope it's a false alarm, but if it isn't, if she needs a drip you'll be glad you went.

good luck.

She kept a feed down midday-ish, and had a wet nappy then, so I don't think she's dehydrated badly. I am keeping an eye on it though thanks :)

When she's sick it's never straight after a feed so I think she's absorbing some fluids - about 15mins after...

How is she today?

LittleWaveyLines · 23/01/2012 19:48

Well from about lunchtime today she has seemed much better, if tired and subdued - had several naps, which is very unusual for her! Thank you for asking :)

I did take her to A&E in the end as she was starting to worry me - they sent us down the corridor to the out of hours GP service, who said she was fine, it was just a bug, and because I'm breastfeeding it would take longer for her to get better! (Goes off to post a ranty thread about this...)

Glad she's better and grr wish they wouldn't make you feel like an over protective mother if you do bring them in and a neglectful one if you wait and see. You did the right thing, checking though. Sometimes we'd go and be sent away, but other times, same symptoms apparently, be whisked into isolation and on a drip for dehydration. It's hard to tell.

... and now I've got it! :(
