Question about asthma sprays

my dd has a blue spray and has been surfing for 2 weeks with a night cough. The blue spray is not helping at all. My bil has a brown spray and I have been told on here that I should k my doctor for a brown spray but I can't get an appointment until Wednesday. Could I try her on bil brown spray or are they all different strengths ie for adult and children.

No don't

Some adult inhalers are completely wrong for children - it's not just about dose it's about contents too

Blue is a reliever
The other colours (& there are many) are preventers - you can't just 'ask' your GP for one; it's if the GP thinks it would help the child

2 weeks is quite a short time & if the reliever isn't working a preventer might not either

I would definitely not try an adult inhaler on a child. How old is she? The brown one will be prescribed for that person. I also think preventative ones take a while to work (so one spray won't help). If she is suffering won't dr see her earlier or could you try a walk in clinic?
My (non asthmatic) was helped by having a humidifier a night.

Agree with katym.

The Brown one is a longer term treatment anyway and you are unlikely to see Amy improvement that quick so you may as well wait and get a proper prescription if that is what the gp prescribes.

Thanks.

I have ordered a humidifier. Am doing the vicks on feet and steaming her room. Was just desperate for a nights sleep. Oh well

The brown ones are steroid inhalers and do come in different strengths. They are taken differently at different times to the blue preventer ones.
You really shouldn't try your brothers one it is unlikely to do any major harm but you do really need the dr's advice on this not share someone else's medication.
Does your dr not have a system where you can call in the morning for an appointment that day or if you are really worried call nhs 24 over the weekend and get it checked.

If the blue inhaler isn't helping (assuming you have been shown how to use it correctly and it's the right amount) then I doubt the brown would do anything anyway and it would take a few days before a difference was noticed anyway.
