Daughter's stomach

Hi, am new on here, but am hoping for some advice on my daughter.

She is almost 5 and for the past 6 months or so has been getting a very hard, bloated stomach. Last night was by far the worst, she looked about 8 months pregnant! Took her to the doctors today, who has sugested 2 weeks of a gluten free diet, followed by a week back on so she can have a blood test.

The stomach bloating is happening approx 2 - 3 times a week. She does eat quite a lot of pasta, wholemeal bread and rice, so a possible gluten intolerance had crossed my mind, but she very rarely complains of any pain associated with it.

Was hoping for some other possible suggestions, if anyone can help? Thank you in advance.

could it be faecal impaction?

If she is being tested for ?coeliac she needs to still be eating gluten, not on a gluten free diet - or the test won't be reliable. So I would double check with the Dr before doing any exclusion.

some info here

Any changes with bowels? Any other symptoms, is she unwell with it or otherwise fine? I would be asking to a referral to a paed for investigation myself and I would not be happy to exclude masses of foods without a proven good reason TBH.

Hi, thanks for responses.

There isn't any difference in her bowels, the doctor suggested the gluten free 2 weeks to see if it the bloating/hardness stops and then as she needs to be eating gluten for the blood test, go back onto it. As I said she rarely complains of any pain and is generally in good health.

Hello,

my daughter has his ( she is 3 years old ) , she has a lot of food intolerances, the other symptoms are loose stools, nausea etc. Does it get worse throughout the day, and then improve over night?
