Hi, just some advice needed - my ds is 15 months and for quite a long time now he has had purple, almost bruise like circles under his eyes. I went to the pharmacy tonight and asked their advice, they said it could be allergies - do they mean food allergies or hayfever type allergies, and does that mean that ds will have hayfever? Another person said it would be an iron deficiency, but I dont know how he would be low in iron. I looked online and it says its a symptom of leukaemia so now I am freaking out. Gonna take him to dr on weds but just want some opinions in the meantime

I would try not to worry, and certainly not google. Go to the drs next week and talk things through with them and take it from there.

sorry i should mention that he sleeps 11 hrs at night and takes a 2 hr nap so lack of sleep isnt the problem

My DS1 has similarly dark circles under his eyes. He does have a number of food intolerances, (and has been anaemic for a bit) but I have them too so they are obviously partly genetic as I don't have anything like that. I know when I first noticed symtoms in DS1 I also panicked and thought of leukaemia so I know how you are feeling. It is very rare and the GP will hopefully put your mind at rest. (DS1 had several other symptoms in common with leukaemia but it was not). Does your DS have quite translucent skin? I do (even though I'm not very pale skinned) and I'm sure this contributes. Have you noticed any other symptoms?

Its very unlikely to be leukaemia. Apart from it being pretty rare, it also tends to progress quite fast to being so obvious that the child is diagnosed, so if the dark eyes have been there for a long time that also makes leukaemia less likely.
