The snot, the snot, I am drowning under a tide of snot!

DD2 is only 5 months and is on her 4th cold. It has been over 2 weeks of streaming snot and disturbed nights.

I am using the saline drops and snot sucker nasal aspirator, Karvol, propping cot up. I am so tired of being woken at 4am by a baby who can't breath through her nose or feed as a result.

How much longer can this possibly continue??? Does anyone have ways to clear up the mucus?

No but when you've figured it out, let me know. My DS (21 months) is streaming and shouts 'BOGEYS' every 5 seconds so I wipe his nose for him. Smile

If you find a cure you'll make millions.

My 5 year old still can't cope with snot. When he has a cold I get "mummeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I got snooooooooooot!" every 5 seconds. You'd have thought my usual response of "what do you want me do do about it? Get yourself a tissue." would have broken that habit by now Hmm. Clearly man flu starts young.

There is such a thing which does wonders, it's called Baby Vac - developed in Hungary and used all over the world now. Here is a link to it:

I bought mine in Hungary, but also found it on amazon (mind you, far more expensive than what I paid for it) - read the reviews!!:

Oh My God! It is not a joke you can actually plug the baby's nose into a vacuum!!!

How long does the mucus stay cleared? Hours? I can't see myself doing this in the middle of the night to clear the bogeys.

I am slightly scared of this device Grin but I am prepared to give it a try.

Thanks Toffee - you can tell i'm not a computer savvy....

Mama - glad i could be of help. there is nothing to be afraid of, the suction of the vacuum cleaner is greatly reduced by the tube you're using, the whole idea is to recreate the same strenght of suction power as to when you blow your nose. The tube is long enough for the snot never to reach the vacuum, it stays within the device which is easy to clean.

LOs can be afraid of the noise the vacuum makes rather than anything else. Be prepared for DD to make a fuss. But then again she might like it. Two out of my three DC were never bothered by it, one always made a fuss until she was old enough to understand what was going on.

When my snotty dd wakes at 4am the only way we get back to sleep is if she comes in with us.
