Has anyone tried it? Did it work? Just that really. Considering trying it on my ds (5.5m).

It worked wonders for DS's colic.
One of my friends found it useless.

Ha thanks Dial. Grin Think I'll give it a go.....how many sessions did you need?

Worked on ds, he used to wake 4 - 5 times a night up till 6 months and after one session he slept through. He is 19 months now and still sleeps through so whatever they did worked. Speak to other mums in your area to get a recommendation for a paediatric cranial osteopath. Good luck!

nomoreminibreaks · 19/01/2012 21:20

We tried it and I think it made a difference, we had two sessions. If I had another baby with colic I'd do it again!

forcedinsomnia · 19/01/2012 21:40

Thanks all. Sounds like its worth a try. Ds had traumatic birth, which ended in emergency section, has reflux, is really tense/stressed and a poor sleeper. So been recommended to give it a go by a friend. We'll see.

We had two. But even after the first on we noticed a change.

mrsbones · 21/01/2012 12:49

I went to Kane and Ross Clinics for osteopathy in London and they were great with my 2 babies, one of them had a very long delivery and reflux. I was not sure whether to go or not but then my doctor recommended it. It turns out that I was treated too as I had neck pain from feeding the baby.

forcedinsomnia · 22/01/2012 14:35

My ds had a tricky birth which ended in emergency section, reflux, he is very tense and restless and a poor sleeper.....can they treat more than one ailment at a time? Or would I need to go several times (in the hope that it even works for my ds that is?! fingers tightly crossed) Does anyone know??

A midwife recommended this as something that might help my DS with his feeding, and as I was desperate we tried it.

It didn't help at all, apart from to seperate us from some much needed cash.

Found out later that this particular midwife recommends cranial osteopathy to every mother she sees pretty much regardless of the problem they are experiencing with their baby Hmm

forcedinsomnia · 22/01/2012 14:44

Yeah....I've heard mixed reviews. The therapist on the phone was honest and said it doesn't always work. I'm you g to give it a try?!

We went because DS had colic and as I understand was a classic case for CO - traumatic birth with 4 hours stuck in the birth canal, ventouse and forceps. None of the normal medication for colic seemed to work but he just cried all the time.

Like I said, we had 2 sessions and I think it made a big difference. The osteopath didn't suggest we needed any more sessions.

forcedinsomnia · 22/01/2012 19:23

What was the matter with your dc dial? I really can't imagine it working but I'm staying positive hoping it will have an effect?! If I come home with a content, non-whingey, sleeping baby I'll think I've broken him!!! Ha. GrinGrinGrin

I took my DD who had awful reflux, fed every 2 hours, v colicy, cried like in pain often and didn't sleep fir more than 3 hours at a time Sad it did definitely help and she always slept v well straight after a session, but it was not a miracle cure (ie reflux didn't go) but did make her more content. Good luckSmile

forcedinsomnia · 22/01/2012 19:37

Thank you Katy....a more content baby right now would be a god send!!! I feel so Sad when he is so agitated etc. DH and I are both stuck what to try when he gets so frustrated....poor wee mite. (DS not DH Wink)

I took my dd with colic, i really was at my wit's end and it did work, we only went once! But as has been said, it wasn't a cure, just a major help and seemed to be a big pain reliever for dd. It is quite strange to watch though, looks like they are hardly doing anything. I remember coming out of the session (wrongly) feeling very unconvinced!

It does get better (even if it doesn't seem like it will!) sounds like you have nothing to lose by trying it. Let us know how it goes Smile

onadietcokebreak · 22/01/2012 19:52

Try it it's worked well for some members of the family, myself included, and less so on others.

DialMforMummy · 22/01/2012 20:01

Dc was screaming his head off from 10.30pm till 1.30 am (ish).
Like alsteff I though I was being ripped off because it look like they are doing nothing at all! Osteopath warned that a big poo might come after the treatment and boy did it come!
After CO, no more crying relentlessly like he did before. I am now pregnant with DS2 and will go straight there at the first colic/ reflux/ discomfort signs!

KatyJ26 · 22/01/2012 21:14

DialM that made me LOL... I took my DS just as a matter of precaution when he was about 2 weeks old as I couldn't bear the thought of colicy baby take 2!!!!!!

IndigoBell · 22/01/2012 21:53

My DS had it aged 11, and it helped a lot.

forcedinsomnia · 28/01/2012 15:46

Had one session last wed and it didn't have an affect....but he did say that ds has a twisted diaphragm which needs more treatment so going for session number 2 next Friday. I will update again after that. Fingers crossed....I need some sleep. Back to work now and I'm shattered!! Sad
