Started today, Dh did not notice when he collected her from school but did think she looked tired, she said. They started itching at school so it could be he did not notice, as he also didn't notice it when I pointed it out until I made him stop and look properly!

By the time she went to bed, her eyes were inflamed around each eye, she said mostly the lid hurt, keeps rubbing, and also says it feels like there I'd hair in the corner of her eyes which there isnt. The rash is sort of like lined of red rather than just swollen. She has a bit of blood shot in her eyes, but that might be due to her rubbing them. She had been crying earlier because she was hungry and she said the tears hurt her eyes, but discussion led to finding out above, that it had been going on earlier.

Any ideas? Asked her if she has touched dirty water, or played with mud etc, nothing she can remember, but she has been playing with a kitten, although we have cats of our open and not allergic.

She does not appear ill in any other way but is very grouchy.

Hi, it could be blepharitis. DD has it and this is what hers started out like. Do a google image search and see if it matches.

I googled that tink and it does look the same. Her eyes are purple around the edges but that is because she should have been asleep hours ago ! But, the rash is a bit like the way an infection looks. Have you ever had an ingrowing tonsil nail or caug the wick of a finger nail? You know that red that sort of streaks down from the infection, well the red looks like that, streaky.

It might be a eye infection as well. It might be worth going to chemist and asking the pharmacist advice. They may give you some Chloramphenicol cream or drops to see if it makes any difference.

When dd has a flair up of blepharitis, we use very diluted baby shampoo and hot boiled water (obviously cooled down) to do hot compresses three times a day. After a few days, you can really notice the difference. The other thing which helps dd is eating oily fish such as tuna.
