my dd was complaining about a burning sensation when she passed urine about 4 weeks ago. I took her to the gp who did a dipstick test and said it looked like a urine infection. A sample was sent to the lab and my dd was prescribed antibiotics. We did'nt finish the course and a couple of weeks later the symptoms came back.

Went back to gp, did another test there and he said there was nitrates, leukocytes and a small amount of blood in tthe sample. He aid the first sample that was sent to the lab did'nt show an infection. Another sample was sent off 2 weeksago. I got a letter ove the weekend from the gp saying they had the results and that they want another urine sample.

I'm a little worried about it. Can anyone relate to this to put my mind at rest. I'm taking dd back to the gp tomorrow.

If you don,t finish the course the bug can become resistant so they may wan to prescribe an alternative. Please finish the course this time and make sure she drinks loads. Very weak lemon barley is good as it stops the stinging. There is probably blood because her ureter is inflamed from the acidic urine.

hi,

My dd was prescribed trimethropin the second time, she finished the course and her symptoms improved.

I have health anxiety and i'm worried as to why the gp wants another sample. Also the white blood cells in her urine scares me. Trying not to panic but failing miserably.
