6 yo dd feeling dizzy at bedtime - any ideas?

My normally healthy 6yo dd has recently started complaining of feeling dizzy when she goes to bed. Tonight she got very upset and described it as feeling like her 'brain was spinning round her head'.

She is absolutely fine during the day and has gone to sleep ok now, but am a bit concerned as to what could be causing her to feel like this. Will try the gp's tomorrow, but has anyone had experience of this? Thanks.

Thanks for your post. Useful to me as my 6 year old is also experiencing dizziness, particularly on lying down but also at other times. She has tinnitus (10 months) and a feeling of fullness in one ear (3 months). She also has a host of other weird symptoms like a feeling of a blockage at the back of her throat, an ache above her eye and an odd sensation when she looks left. We ended up paying for an audiologist as everything was taking too long due to covid. The report came back normal so we have been referred to tinnitus and vertigo clinics. But pretty sure that really she needs an MRI. So frustrating at the moment as waiting times for appts are so long.

This sounds like it could be related to a spinal fluid leak, especially the ear pressure and eye pain. MRI can sometimes catch this, but if it’s a mild or intermittent leak, then the MRI may come back within normal limits. I may be way off base, but it’s something to look into if nothing else comes back positive.

hi OOP. any updates for us? not quite the same but my ex partner had problems with intermittent dizzy spells. cone so bad she almost totally passed out. went for tests, turned out she was type 1 diabetic. not saying this is the same for your dd if it's only happening at bedtime but just something worth consider.

I'm having a similar issue with my 10 year old daughter. Fine in the morning when she wakes up, fine during the day, but at bedtime, she complains of dizziness (1 month now). Tonight she was quite distraught telling me "daddy, I just want to go back to normal." It literally broke my heart. Have gone to ENT and neurologist and all results have come back normal. What could be the issue/solution? If anyone has had success, I'd be interested to hear. Thanks so much in advance.

@GirlDad you'd be better to start a new thread with your post as the OP. Otherwise you'll get a string of posters telling you it's a zombie thread. Also, by starting a new thread, all your posts will be highlighted to people who have OP highlighting on.
