what is the best way to fade fresh chicken pox scars?

Both my sons had chicken pox in Oct.
DS2 (2 years) had a good covering (100 or so spots) but was hardly unwell but DS1 (6 years) had a terrible case and was very ill to the point where my doc was considering hospital as she was so concerned about blood poisioning.DS1 has been left with MASSIVE scars everywhere, i know they will fade a bit in time but the are so red still and he is very aware of them as he has about 10 nail sized ones on his face alone. It is probably made worse as he is very pale skined (copper hair).
I have been rubbing bio oil on since Oct but it hasnt made any difference yet and thought i would ask as he id getting pretty down about them.

Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Hopefully this will reassure you - my DD#1 had it very badly and was left with some horrible scars on her tummy and back when she was 2yrs. They were red and angry for ages then clearly pale scars easily seen for a few years. She is now 7yrs old and whilst you still can see them they have blended in really well as she has grown and you would not notice them straight away. We didn't do anything special with them - I don't think there is anything that will make them fade easily that I know of, but perhaps you could look at some of the cover up spot sticks you can buy and see if maybe a little of that on top will help him feel a little less self conscious about them until the redness does eventually settle.

I used this one on severe acne scarring

ds had a lot of scars after having cp when he was 7 weeks old, took about 6 months til they faded, didn't use anything on them. now, you can still slightly see pock marks in places but they're all skin colour.

I had chickenpox when I was 17 and had red blotches for months afterwards. Luckily I didn't get any actual scarring, but I did find vitamin E soap (from Bodyshop) worked wonders.

No - I found it rubbed in quite well. Made my pillow a bit greasy but I slept on an old towel and made sure my hair was tied back in an alice band. Actually seemedto prevent new spots forming aswell.

thanks so much i have just ordered a bottle.
