Cranial osteopathy

My 8 week old ds goes into an inverted c-shape whenever i put him on his back. now i also noticed that his head is a bit assymetrical. the gp recommended cranial osteopathy. it all sounds a bit lentil-weavery to me, does any of you have any experience with it? or probably other ideas that might help?

I took my ds at 6 months because he wasn't happy on his back and woke up at hourly intervals at night. They didn't seem to do much but he looked visibly more relaxed straight away and slept through the night that night. I took him back for a second appointment a week later, didn't really need to but felt that since I'd booked it I should go. His sleep has been great ever since.

If you don't like the lentil-weavery aspect of cranial osteopathy you could try a chiropractor.

yes, go to see cranial osteopath. my dd was born 14 days overdue, and had terrible, terrible colic and pain. we were warned that first treatment would make things worse, but it didnt really look as though he was doing anything to be honest.

she did get worse, and then on second visit, she went from frantic screaming in pain and fell in to a deep sleep. which was she had never done before. she slept for hours...and woke up happy and fed well in a relaxed way. iyswim

further treatments helped, he also looked at my old car seat ( same one for my eldest child) and said that a long car journey would be painful for her in that seat.

am glad we did take her, the screams went on one day for 11 hrs, and neighbours knocked on door to see if she was ok. her screams were so loud she broke the sound on the camcorder.

this is one alternative treatment i would highly recommened. worth every penny.

My 11 year olds just finished Cranial osteopath and it's been brilliant.

I would recommend it.

My 3 yr old sees a cranial osteopath. I started taking him when he was 1.5yrs. I should have done it from birth.

It does not hurt them. It will find any weaknesses in your child's body following birth that might need some attention. That could explain your son's head shape. We had similar issues.

Has your Dr recommended one? When you phone to make the appointment ask them to get the osteopath to call you back and ask them all your questions ( what will they do, can they help in this situation? etc..).

A good osteopath ( at the end of the initial treatment) if they can help, will tell you how many treatments they think it will take.

We still take our 3 yr old for 'top' ups. We can tell when he needs to go.
