Diarrhoea advice needed!

My DS 8 month old has had diarrhoea since Thursday. My DS (3yrs) and DD (5 yrs) were sick last night but are better by tonight. I also had the diarrhoea on Thursday but was better within 24hrs. Worst of all is my DH who has it today!! Anyway, there's a bug in our house and most worried about 8mth old who can't get rid of it. He's still smiling and crawling about the place and drinking water and today cried for food so the HV told me to give him some. I did this and he ate some but wasn't too fussed. Also he's been drinking 3 bottles of formula which he enjoyed. HV said it was OK to do this even though I thought it would make things worse. ANYWAY, does anyone have any tips in how to get rid of it. I've disinfected all surfaces, have got everyone to wash hands and use that gel that makes hands clean and washed all towels which could infect anyone, so hopefully I'm doing everything I can to keep the house clean, but he still has diarrhoea! (If I've spelt it incorrectly then I'm sorry).

Once you have the bug, cleaning the surfaces won't do a jot!

Your 8 month old will not do any harm by continuing the formula but dairy does harbour bacteria for longer so it will take time for his poo to be back to normal.

Don't let him get dehydrated and take him to the GP if you're unsure/worried - he's a baby so they never mind checking them out to ease your worry Smile

scrubbing door handles/changing hadn towels daily are a good bet for next time but if there's a bug about, then it'll pass on somehow.

it is still advised to continue milk feeds and to feed them if they are hungry. Starchy foods are good e.g. rice, pasta, bread/toast, etc. You will just have to let it run its course and watch out for dehydration. Dioralyte can be used alongside his usual feeds too (helps rehydrate)
