Baby screaming at 5pm - NOTHING seems to work!!

I have a 11 week old baby girl - she is my number 3 so I feel foolish that I don't already know the answer to my dilemma from my other two children. Basically, she screams and screams from about 5pm until she goes to bed at about 6.45pm. I have tried split feeding - didn't work. I have tried endless entertainment - didn't work. Her two older sisters have tried entertaining, but that didn't work either. I thought that she might grow out of it, but at 11 weeks, this time of day is now becoming increasingly draining. Does anyone have experience of this, and if so, any ideas?? Thank you!

Colic. I had it my third as well and it hit me like a ton of bricks. There I was thinking I was a competent experienced parent Hmm.

All I can tell you that it passes within 4 to 6 weeks or so. That's 4-6 weeks of unmitigated hell, but it will pass. Just sort of work around it.

Does being upright help? No experience myself but have heard that having them in a sling can help with colic.

Or does she need another nap?

Have you tried white noise? Switch on the hoover or the washing machine.

Well, I was thinking it was colic, but I've taken her for cranial osteopathy and colic doesn't seem to be an issue. I am wondering about the sleep - she usually conks out after her 2.30ish feed so about 3.30 but only for about 30mins - I can't get her to stay asleep. But I am thinking that she is just tired. Or maybe just very bored!!

I've got a 12 week old and also find that time of day very challenging. If I can get him to have a nap at about 5pm for half an hour that definitely helps. But its not easy getting him to have the nap! Failing that we have nappy off time and failing that I get him in the bath and he calms instantly. Then its a feed and bed. Sometimes this means a short time between the previous feed and this last one and sometimes it means he's in bed for 6.30 but I find he's just shattered and thats what he needs. X

DS1 did something similar. Oddly, taking all his clothes and nappy off seemed to help.
