Chicken Pox dilemma

Hi

So my son was in contact with a boy the morning before he got chicken pox about 12 days ago, no signs of any illness yet.
He has his birthday party tomorrow and I have let everyone who is coming know and so they can decide if they want to come or not.
My dilemma is that twins who were also with us 12 days ago went to see the little boy with Chicken pox 4 days after he got it as she was keen for them to catch it.
I know there is a chance my son is contaminated (for want of a better word!!) but with incubation periods if he did get it he would be recovered by Christmas so that doesn't worry me. Wheras if he didn't get it then but catches off the twins tomorrow could mean being ill over Christmas which would be a real shame as we have are doing the big family thing with parents, siblings etc. Not sure what to do, the twins mother has said she understands if it is better if they dont come but don't know if I am being overly paranoid. I am 32 weeks pregnant as well.
Hmmmmmmm

Nah ask them to politely sit this one out. Mum wanted them to get it so they probably will and you don't want Christmas spoiled. She will understand, you are pregnant too so it's not a good idea for them to come. If I was the mum I'd be fine.

I might be wrong here but wouldn't Xmas actually be quite a good time to have it. Kids are generally itchy with it but not exactly unwell and if you're off work, not going out, etc. Or was dd just lucky to have it mildly? She was never unwell with it.

I bet your son won't get it at all.
DS3 spent 2hours at a toddler group 2 days b4 his spots came out.
Nobody at toddlers came down with CP in the following month.
I don't think it's half as easy to catch as "they" say.

I'm not so worried about your boy catching it over Christmas as all the other children who will be coming to the party - he's not that likely to have it, as you made no deliberate attempt to make him catch it but the twins are very likely to.

So you're not only putting your own Christmas at risk but that of everyone else.
I think you ask the mother of the twins not to send them. That way everyone knows there's a small risk from your DS but you don't have to worry about telling them all about the slightly higher risk from the twins. Iyswim!!!

Thanks girls for your advice, I have asked her not to come as I would feel awful if all the guests got ill over Christmas!!! I am pretty sure my son should be ok now as he is totally fine in fact more energy than usual now he has seen all the party decorations going up!!
