Worried about DD, 12 months and poorly

Hi
My little girl started vomiting last Sunday. She ended up in a and e on Tuesday night as she couldn't keep down fluids, and was discharged on Wednesday. They sais she had rotavirus, which I picked up when I was on the ward with her, but shook off in 24 hours, thank God. The stomach bug did seem to go, but seemed to morph overnight into a streaming cold and a rattly cough. And the rattly cough is making her....vomit again. I cleared up an ocean this afternoon.
She's much better in herself - has energy to play, and keeps down milk and food, unless she coughs. I'm so worried though. Is it possible for one bug to lead straight into another, and can coughing and phlegm produce a torrent of vomit? Thanks for reading.

We are going through the same thought luckily not as bad vomiting initially. Dd is 14m and ds is almost 5. Both had a tummy bug and both are now coughing horribly - ds has thrown in a terrible ear infection for good measure.

Keep your dd's fluids up, check she isn't feverish which could indocate an infection, check she still has wet nappies etc and if you're worried call nhs / ooh or even the ward she was in earlier in the week.

Dd is a sicky baby/toddler but yes she's often sick because of mucus, its the only way they can get rid of it really.

DD (9mo, but 7mo then) had this not long after I started back at work, and yes she also got the D&V plus nasty cold symptoms. The Dr we saw said it's not unusual, as the virus can attack in a number of ways or their immunity can just be generally lowered due to fighting the Rotavirus, that the slightest sniffle hits them harder. And yes mucus made her vomit too. For DD, it was mostly gone within a week, but was up to almost 2 weeks before she was really 100% again, normal appetite, sleep, etc.

Meant to say also yes to everything mistletoe said re fluids etc. If you're worried whether she is absorbing enough fluids, weigh a wet nappy and a dry one and you can tell the doc how much wee there was (this was something our Dr asked for). Also, if any fluid stays in 20 minutes or more, they are starting to absorb some at that point, and any wee at all is a good sign, as that's waste water i.e. it's not 'needed'.

Thanks so much to both of you for replying. We have a GP appointment for 11am today. She had a bottle of milk at 7:30am, and has kept that down so far, so hopefully some will be absorbed even if she is sick.

Hope your DCs are better soon, Mistletoe. Delia - I've just gone back to work 3 days a week, and had to have 2 of them off last week, as we were in hospital and I also picked up the sickness bug. I think that's making me more stressed as well.
