Hi, I am very worried because since my little girl had her MMR injection last Thurs she has totally changed. For the past 5 nights she has been awake most of the night and has been screaming loads as if in pain ( have given Calpol but doesn't help) - she has also gone off her food. She is usually a placid, happy baby and I have never seen her like this before - she is having tantrums, is exhausted and is miserable. Has anyone else had problems with their babies after the MMR injection? Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

yes, it's quite normal. your clinic will have given you a sheet as to what to expect after vaccinations. fever and restlessness/ unhappiness are pretty par for the course. Smile mine were always out of sorts for a week or so (and dd2 came up witha spectacular rash and all of the gps had to come and have a look and then quarantined themselves as they thougt she had measles. she didn't. it went away a couple of days later. that was on day 6 i think?)

she'll be right as rain within a couple of days i expect, but will just need some tlc in the interim.

more serious complications are v rare, and what you are describing sounds absolutely normal. however, if you are worried, contact the clinic.

Thanks for reply. Makes me feel better to know that because it's very stressful when your little one is poorly, isn't it?! Wish she would stop crying, don't know what to do :( Have now started reading up on the MMR jabs and have freaked myself out!
Thanks again.

My DS had a bad reaction a week after his and we were on holiday in France at the time.

He had a very high fever, rash over his chest and seemed in pain. We was an exhausting few days as we were nursing him through the night (thankfully the in-laws were on hand to look after our DD).

A couple of days later he was back to normal and he had no reaction at all to the 2nd jab.

you can report the reaction to the MHRA via the yellow card scheme

it sounds normal and is in the package leaflet (ask the nurse), but if you are worried just take her to the gp.

My DS2 had MMR at 12 months and developed a very high fever (40.5) after one week, which stayed for 3 days and we were unable to drop it to less than 39 with Ibuprofen and Calpol. Also he was screaming at nights as in pain, but no other symptoms. We had to see GP and got prescribed antibiotics for 7 days. DS2 is better now (7th day of antibiotics). I came to conclusion that MMR had its own side effects and also weakened immune system, and DS2 possibly caught another virus/infection which has made it worse.
It was really worrying experience I must admit!
Never had any post-MMR reaction with DS1.

I would report the reaction.

My dd2 had a bad reaction to the MMR but reacted almost straight away, we ended up in hospital as we could not control her temp and she went limp Sad, it took a while before the doctor admited it was a MMR reaction, she made a fast recovery. My dd1 had no reaction at all to hers.
