Limping 3 year old?!

DS1 (3 years) fell off a bed yesterday and initially hurt his back (bruise to centre of spine where he bashed it on the handle of the chest of drawers), seemed fine. Today he had woke up and is limping badly, was not too bad this morning after being up for an hour or so but has got worse as day went on. It is not bruised/swollen and he will let me touch and poke it!

Am i being neglectful to not take him to the GP, i was planning on waiting and seeing how it went but watching him hobble had made me feel like a horrible mummy. Obviously he is in bed asleep now so would wait to see how it is in the morning anyhow.

Opinions? Thanks

no your not being neglectful because you are clearly worried you have not seen any bruising or swelling and he does not seem distressed i would have waited myself and felt guilty also if something was wrong and many other people would do the same we are only human and it isnt a life threatening thing so he will be fine so if he is still limping in the morning maybe you could take him to the walk in maybe it is just slightly bruised. my son was limping once when he was little and struggled getting up and down the stairs but it was due to wearing a pair of wellies and another time it happened was when he was wearing a pair of adidas trainers so now we only ever go to clarks i only mentioned this just incase it was not the fall that caused the problem with it being a day later. also my daughter has problems with her ankles due to growing pains and it gets really bad for her sometimes where she struggles to walk.

So he only hurt his back, but is limping? He def needs to be seen, and should probably have an x-ray of his spine. It's possible to have an internal injury with no external bruising/swelling.

Can you take him first thing tomorrow? Always better to overreact than underreact, esp. at this age Smile

yeah when i said slightly bruised i meant internal bruising i agee it will put your mind at rest to get it checked :0)
