Would you still take 3yr old to park with Conjuctivitus?

I cannot make up my mind this morning. DS1 is supposed to be meeting friend at park and he has developed conjunctivitus overnight. I'm going to get the eye ointment later today but should I cancel with friends to ensure they don't catch it?

It's the pre-school nativity next wk and I'm sure they won't want our germs.

But then on the other hand I really want DS1 to go to pre-school tonorrow as he missed tues due to illness and he has to practise the nativity so they will see each other there tonorrow anyway.

I'd probably cancel today, and get the ointment as quickly as possible, and hopefully it will be a bit better tomorrow and he can go to nursery.

Thank you Belgo. I'm trying to think if it was the other way round. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind overly if one of DS's friends had conjunctivitus, it seems quite the norm to still take children out with it, but, no-one would want to catch it right before school nativity would they?

Is it still contagious once slathered in anti-biotic eye ointment?

DS1 was so excited about meeting his friend, I know they'll both be disappointed :(

I don't know, you can ask your pharmacist.

If it is showing signs of improvement, I would let him go to the nursery tomorrow. I probably wouldn't keep a child off school for mild conjunctivitis; but I would cancel playdates because playdates are not really necessary.
